After making many reverse glass fish paintings, I decided to create more fish using my other favorite media, the cut out canvas and sewing method. These were inspired by a simple song with the words, “Make new friends, but keep the old, One is silver, and the other gold”.

For the larger fish of “One is Silver”, I cut fish shapes out of leftover gold leaf and flower pattern collage. I sewed them onto a simplified aqua acrylic on burlap water pattern. “The Other Gold” has larger fish of black and silver. In each one I placed a smaller fish of the opposite painting. Water in “The Other Gold” is represented as spiral sound waves.
