Babble

Oil with Acrylic on canvas, sealed yarn & burlap, vinyl
yr. 2018
I named this work “Babble” because the jumble of spheres and circles seem to flow like a babbling brook behind the swimming duck. In order to not waste paint, I make a habit of smearing some of the leftover paint onto nearby canvases. Over time a nice build-up colors and layers become their own entity. It is yet another abstract outlet I enjoy introducing into my figurative works. Thus, “Babble” was not a planned out work, but instead one whose separate painted pieces came together as I rearranged them, seeing what moved me most so that they could be sewn together chaotically with a cross-stitched ‘babbled’ language.
